Unless you have been standing around with your head in the sand, I am sure you at least have heard of twitter. But, I am hoping you are using it too. I have been using twitter now solid for at least 2 months, maybe more. It has become a very valuable tool for me in a number of areas of my business. I use it to market our business by networking with others. And I have used it to build relationships with some outstanding people. twitter has also provided me with the opportunity to be invited to a wonderful networking group of others who have been successful using the Internet.
I have blogged about twitter previously at:
- How I Use Twitter — Let me count the ways
- Twitter — Rules of Engagement
- The Twitter Tools of a Home Office Warrior
What I have found from using twitter is there are really no limits on how you can use twitter and what you can use it for. One use I have found to be a great benefit of twitter is using it as an actual RSS reader where I am able to follow recent post published by many of those I follow on twitter.
Not only am I able to get updates on new blog post to the blogs of those I follow. I am able to feed to my twitter followers my own new blog post as they are posted to my blogs, including this one. To do this, I use one of the many new applications which have come out in the last few months for twitter called, twitterfeed.
twitterfeed is very easy to use. First you will need a twitter account. That is a given. Next, you will set up an account in twitterfeed using the OpenID method of logging in. And than finally, you provide twitterfeed the URL of your blog’s RSS feed and how often they should check for new blog post from your blog. That’s it. Once you set it up, each time you do a new post, it is fed to your twitter account and than to your followers.
Using twitter this way is one of ways you can actual use twitter to promote you, your business and/or your blogs. It is not intrusive and it provides current feeds to your followers. I know I appreciate it when those I follow feed their new blog post to twitter. I keep twitter open all day long and check new tweets throughout the day. When I see one of the people I am following has posted a new blog post, I may click on the link and see what they are writing about. it is just one more way I can keep up with the blogs I watch.
And, using twitterfeed is just one more way I get exposure for my blogs. I know it is working as I am getting traffic from twitter based on the hits showing up in my blogs’ stats.
If you are a blogger and if you are using twitter, give twitterfeed a try. You will see results.
