It is not that I am proud of the fact I hit 3000 followers on twitter. What is amazing to me is the fact that many of you want to listen to what I have to say.
All I can say is thank you for joining in on our conversation and I look forward to more and more discussion on twitter and beyond.
Twitter – A Must Have
Twitter has become a must have “tool” for me and how I interact with like minded individuals. It has also become one of my biggest sources of traffic to this blog. And I find it amazing twitter has actually moved past Google as my number 1 referral source of traffic.
For those who are still wondering if twitter is a tool they should be considering. Let me just say, if you don’t use social media tools like twitter, you are really missing out. Not just for the added traffic to your blog. Even more important to me, I would not have developed some of the relationships I have right now without twitter. I have met and come to know some of the coolest people on twitter. Too many to mention.
One recent trend that has been bothering me are sites which rank you based on the number of twitter followers you have. Quite frankly, big damn deal. Only listing you based on the number of followers you have does not provide any indication as to whether you are actually providing any real value to the twitterverse or those who follow you. Sites who provide a listing of tweeters and rank them based on numbers are doing a disservice to those who are new to twitter. For those who are new to twitter, don’t follow someone just because they have a large number of followers. And don’t follow me just because I have 3000 followers. Follow tweeters because you think they might add something to your day.
