Has twitter decreased the comments on your blog?

I do know a big source of traffic, visitors and most important readers for BFP have been from twitter. While I know traffic has gone up, I am not sure comments have kept up with the traffic.

Like many who blog and use twitter, I feed my RSS feed to twitter. Each time I do a new post, an alert is sent to twitter with a link to the post. In order to get what others might be thinking on this I decided to ask the source. So I asked on twitter if others were seeing any decrease in their comments since they started to use twitter.

@shedworking — Not getting more comments, but getting steady stream of clickthroughs.

@mayhemstudios — My comments on my blog has increased 100% because of twitter.

@sparkyfirepants — Definitely more, but could always use more.

@erikmagraken — Much more traffic on my blog since joining twitter. I’d say a 20% increase in last month… also lots more connections on LinkedIn through folks I’ve met on twitter.

@Missmerlyn — I’ve only gotten more comments on one blog post that I tweeted about – the others have remained the same.

@Adrianos — Definitely getting more page views/ coments/ recognition after using twitter. Most of my traffic comes from twitter, in fact.

@advocatesstudio — only when I ask for them.

@adellecharles — More…

It seems the general thoughts from most is more comments. And more traffic too. Tell us what your experience has been since you started to use twitter as to traffic, comments and subscriptions.

I definitely get lots of traffic from people on twitter and some folks leave comments on the blog. Others send a twitter reply or direct message to share their comments with me directly, rather than on the blog. I'm not sure if this is good, bad or neutral. Just something I've noticed recently.

Food for thought though, to be sure. On the positive side, the conversation is happening, just in a different space. Is there a downside?
