Google provides a new way to socialize your blog’s feed

Now you can take advantage of Google’s new Socialize feature to tweet your new blog post from Feedburner.

There are other services out there you can do this with. What this new feature does is allow you to send tweets out automatically via your Feedburner account on your blog.

Feedburner’s new Socialize feature gives you some different options. Some of which are the ability to tweet out just the title or you can include some of the body of the post. You can add a hashtag, or not. You can also add additional text before or after the title of the post too. Adding the text after is a feature I have not seen with the other tools and plugins available to do this.

The formatting must fit within the 140 character limit imposed by Twitter. If the option you choose creates a message longer than 140 characters, Feedburner will automatically truncate the message to fit.

If you choose to include a link to the feed item, your feed item permalinks will be rewritten as a shortened URL by Google on the goo.gl domain. These links redirect to your normal FeedBurner URLs so that analytics tracking will not be affected. If you select “Leave room for retweets” it will truncate the message to leave room for rewteeting using the many Twitter clients that support this function.

While there are other services which will do this. It will be interesting to see how Google and Feedburner bring this all together with our blog’s stats. When one considers the service is also providing us with its own URL shortener, I look for there to be some way to follow the clicks we get on these URL’s.

I set Socialize up this morning for Blog For Profit as you can see from the image above.

How would this be different from tweeting the link directly to your post using a plugin like Tweetmeme?

The Google service tweets each new blog post. I have not used Tweetmeme yet.

Thanks for the info. I'll be looking into Socialize.

Just switched over to this and love it! Looks like the death of my Twitterfeed account is in short order.

One suggestion: If you don't want to blast tweets that have already been tweeted through other sources (aka Twitterfeed), you may want to set the Item Limit to ONE.

Originally, I left mine on default and blasted Twitter with five consecutive tweets of previous information. Not good when one's trying to avoid looking like a auto-bot.

At any rate, thanks for sharing!
