Blogs have come a long way since the days when everyone thought they were just for online journals or diaries. Even since I started to blog over three years ago, the flexibility of the blog format and the blogging platform has morphed into something extraordinary. At G2 Web Media we do blogs for professional service firms, small businesses, home businesses and individuals. The flexibility of blogging and the blog format has made it possible to really blur the line between what a well designed blog looks like and what I like to call a “static Web site.” No longer are businesses of any type locked into building or having built only a static web site. Or, a typical web yellow page ad where you throw something up and pray someone stops by to see what you have to say. What we have found and what we are doing for clients is that you can use the WordPress system to not only have a blog but to have a web presence that offers more.
What follows are some examples of what we have been doing for some of our clients at G2 Web Media which provides them with both the benefits of a more traditional Web site and the flexibility of a proactive web presence a blog provides.
Daniel C. Nunley — Tulsa Oklahoma Lawyer
Dan’s web presence at Nunley Law was to say the least a challenge and fun to do. Dan is a Tulsa, Oklahoma lawyer that has four major practice areas he not only wanted to promote. But wanted to blog about. When we first started on the project we had to decide how to accomplish what Dan wanted to do with his web marketing. And needless to say, Dan’s project was one of our bigger projects to date. To get what we wanted, we constructed a “home” page that would tie it all together. From there you can navigate to all of the four blogs. You can contact Dan and you can get directions to his office. In addition to all of that, you can see the actual feeds to the blogs right on the “home” page. Which was one feature I was wanted to give our clients who were needing the type of blog and home page Dan was getting.
The Law Office of Daniel C. Nunley and its four blogs is designed to drive business to Dan’s law office. It truly has become a huge source of information for anyone looking for help and/or information on four specific areas of law in Oklahoma.
Billy D. Price — Dallas Bankruptcy Lawyer

Billy’s site is similar to Dan’s with one major difference. Billy’s is built around one major practice area, bankruptcy. The Dallas Bankrutpcy Lawyer is full of information about the Billy D. Price law firm and a huge amount of information about bankruptcy. Not only is there a blog with up to date information about bankruptcy. There is “static” information there to answer most of the questions the consumer may have on this area of law.
In addition, a visitor can spend some time and fill out a comprehensive form to receive more information about filing bankruptcy. All of this is also built on and around the WordPress blogging platform.
Virtual Law Office
This is a prime example of what you can do with a blogging platform such as WordPress and have it not look like a blog. Not only is there a blog on this site, there is information about the VLOtech product, and a place for their clients to log in to the client area. Stephanie, one of the owners of VLOtech has taken advantage of the flexibility of a blogging platform to provide both news about the firm and its people. And news about their product. All on the “home” page where it is very visible for the reader.
The Flexibility of the Blog
Blogging is not the same as it was when it first hit the Internet. When all you saw were sites that were used for journals and personal diaries. No longer are you strapped to the limits of a “static website” that would require knowledge of coding or the hiring of someone who does to make changes or add information. Because we use WordPress and are building sites like those showcased above, our clients can make most if not all of the changes to the site they want. Even the “home” page or what some might call the “static” Web site can be changed and modified by the end user, our clients.
By using a platform like WordPress, we are able to provide our clients more too. Instead of having to settle for a web yellow page, where you throw something up and pray someone will stop by. You get a site that is interactive and proactive. A site where you can build relationships with your visitors and turn them into return visitors and readers. Where you can carry on a conversation with your readers and at the same time provide them with a huge amount of information in a form and factor they understand and can use.
I would be happy to discuss blogging further with you if you want. You can contact me at grant@g2webmedia.com. And, if you continue to follow and subscribe to this blog, you will be able to read what I enjoy talking about, blogging for profit in your business or professional service firm.
