Lawyers and blogging… Market is wide open

According to a recent article in the ABA Journal, Web 2.0 Still a No-go only 8% of firms maintain a law blog. 2% of the lawyers maintain a law blog.

Lawyers are slow to adopt the benefits of Web 2.0 as they call it. What lawyers are really missing out on is one of the greatest pro-active marketing tools available to them.

RSS feeds—a technology that displays headlines from many sites on a single webpage, which greatly speeds the consumption of information—are not used by most attorneys. Social networks are only just now catching on. Podcasts and online videos are mostly for the kids—theirs or the ones they hire as first-year associates.

I am actually amazed the numbers are this low. Lawyers who are not taking advantage of blogging and RSS are really missing out. In fact according to the article, lawyers receive information at a rate of 79% from news websites and only 10% from RSS feeds. Not a very efficient method of having the news fed to you.

If you have any questions about using RSS or about how blogging can be used as a tremendous marketing tool, drop me an email at grant@g2webmedia.com and we can talk.
