Get a Web Presence NOW!!!

Every day, I see post on a few of the Listservs I follow about another new internet marketing course or seminar.  And each of those days and each of those post always say the same thing.

WOW, what great looking Internet marketing seminar.  Wish I could attend.

Just as an FYI for you.  Those Listservs I follow are either for businesses or for professional service firms.

What bothers me the most about the post and the mention of the seminars is not the fact they state, “wish I could attend.”  What bothers me the most is the fact, when I do a bit of research to the original poster or to those who reply, 8 times out of 10, they don’t have any Internet presence.

The problem I see is the fact these same businesses and firms spend way too much time going to seminars or taking courses on how to do a Web site.  And they spend too little time just doing it.

Seriously people, what is there to think about?  If you want to think about something, think about this.

  1. Over 75% of the people looking for your product or service are looking online
  2. It is a good bet your competitors are already online and making money because of it
  3. Having a Web presence is no longer an option
  4. If you don’t get online now, you are going to be left behind by those businesses and firms who are.

What is keeping you from “just doing it?”

I think working in this industry it's often easy (at least for me) to think every business is online and everyone has a website, when the reality is, like you say, far from that. I'm with remarkablogger , my mind is boggled when it's so cheap and easy that anyone can have at least some sort of basic web presence for less than a business lunch and an ad in the yellow/white pages.

BlogTechGuy remarkablogger When you compare the money some businesses and firms waste doing other so called marketing, having a Web presence is a fraction of it.

The problem for some professional firms for example is the "keeping up with the Jones" attitude they still have. But, what is great about having a blog, blogsite or Web site is the fact, even small businesses or firms can keep up with and compete with the "big boys." They just need to do it.

GrantGriffiths A friend of a friend's bar/restaurant closed down a while back and when he asked me how often I had gone to it I replied I could never find the phone number or opening hours. A one page website with that information on would have been cheap and I guarantee increased visitors! To begin with you don't need to compete with others, just give yourself a fighting chance!

Here in the UAE we have a different (yet related) kind of a problem. Most business here have a website and even twitter accounts but the websites are out dated and in flash and the twitter accounts inactive.

Just showing up does not a web presence make. You have to be active, you have to engage.

Samarowais Very true. But, the problem is some don't even get started with any Web presence.

This continues to baffle me to no end. People must have some kind of mental roadblock or something.

remarkablogger I think the mental roadblock for some is the head up the rear condition too many have.
