One often overlooked critical component too many business bloggers forget to put on their blogs is the option to subscribe by email. A lot of the blogging platforms available to business bloggers default and enable only the RSS subscription option.
What happens when a business blogger fails to provide both options? They miss out on the chance to engage with a large chunk of their readers. They may actually not get the results with their blog they feel they should get. And chances are, they are not happy with the subscription numbers on their blog either.
Hubspot recently provided the results of some of the research they did on this very subject. What they found was the average email subscriptions for business blogs was 12 times more than the average for RSS subscriptions.

If this is the case and you don’t provide both options, you are missing out on a significant number of possible subscribers. What is worse, not using email as an option keeps you from also taking advantage of the opportunity to include these email subscribers in your email marketing program. We will discuss how you can use email in connection with your blog to gain even more advantage over those competitors who are not using email as a marketing tool in a future post.
Do you provide email subscription as an option on your blog? If you don’t, why not?
