The other day Darren Rowse ask a question on twitter I could not let go, “How to recession proof your blog?” Darren is the publisher of one of the top blogs on blogging, Problogger. And if you didn’t know that, you are living in a haze.
Darren used those responses from twitter to compile a great post called, 13 Tips to Recession Proof Your Blog. And there are some good ones.
- Focus Upon Content
- Build Networks
- Don’t Panic
- Build Your Own Products/Services
- Build Authority
- Backup
- Diversify Your Income
- Look for Opportunities in the Negative
- Find ways to Expand and Improve your Blog
- Track Track Track
- Work Hard and Work Smart
- Cut Costs
- Experiment with Income Streams
As I look at the list, I am trying to figure out which one of them you should not do in any economy. And I can’t find one. As bloggers, as business owners and/or service providers, we need to be looking at each one of these each day of the year. If we do, we will always be prepared for what ever the economy might bring.
By the way, I was quoted on the post too. Under the heading Work Hard and Work Smart, I suggested you should, “recession proof by focusing, focusing and focusing. Don’t try to be everything to everybody. Concentrate on your niche.”
