Frank,

Whilst I have never been asked details when signing up to a RSS feed or newsletter, I think some blogs do use tactics to find out the information you are asking. Often you see blogs with surveys about age, and careers.

I would be happy to answer those questions on a general survey, but I don't think I would answer them if asked specifically.

It all depends on what your going after, what your "product" is and what market you need to be in. If Teens fit then you should be paying attention.

If they don't fit, then you should keep your eye on them because some day they're going to fit - don't be naive to that fact.

I'd be interested to see how other bloggers are determining who their audience is? name, email, age, location, ethnicity, etc... that's all tough info to gather for your average blogger because bloggers arn't "selling" anything that requires people to give that level of information.

Hi John, I think you are correct that Myspace and Facebook are the better ways to connect with teens. I am more comfortable using Facebook so I am planning to use that soon.

I commented on the previous post "Why I Don’t Care if Teens Aren’t Using Twitter (and Why You Shouldn’t Care, Either)" and said Twitter doesn’t need teens! And I hope more do not sign up! (Until they grow-up and realize the world doesn’t revolve around them or cares ‘What they are doing’) and your point "Teenagers are not interested in what the world thinks, just their friends and frenemies." is the reason I said that. However, I also use Facebook and Myspace to connect with that age group and it works well because unlike twitter you can comment on what they are saying etc... and they do love the attention ! And as my goal is to just keep me on thier minds so when and if they need what I provide they think of me first.
