Link your blog to your twitter profile – Day 8 Twitter Tips and Hints

This is one tip and hint I almost did not include. However, there are so many new tweeters out there not taking advantage of this, I thought we better. If you will remember a couple of the previous post in this series, you will recall these:

The main purpose for these techniques when using twitter is to get followers. Give them a reason to follow you and want to engage you in your conversations. Putting your blog’s link in your profile not only provides possible followers with a way to get to know you. It also gives you a great way to promote your blog and to get people visiting it now.

All too often I see the URL field in people’s profiles left blank. Those not putting a URL here are failing to take advantage of this great opportunity. If you are going to use twitter, put your URL in this space. And if you have a blog, promote your blog here.

We will discuss using this space for something I use and that is a “Twitter Landing Page” in the next few days. And you will see how this tool can really direct your audience to where you want them to be.

There would be no reason not to leave your blog or website URL in your Twitter profile. Yet I've seen Twitter profiles with blog and website URLs missing. I don't get it. Don't these Twitter users want blog readers?

I never thought of having a Twitter Landing Page. What would be the advantage of this? I know you would be able to design and choose what the readers would be drawn / led to when you have a twitter landing page. This would give you the ability to control things, and take them to your best posts. On the other hand, what about variety? Wouldn't readers who are drawn to your page want to see something different, especially if they have come more than once to your blog, and have not come by reader or bookmarked you yet. Perhaps they want to come through the main page?

Those were only mere thoughts. What do you think?
