Who could disagree that you shouldn't use the default avatar? Nobody I know. All I can figure is those that use the default avatar don't know how to upload a photo or graphic yet. This astounds me, but I imagine it is possible. There is however, no excuse for such a situation, as such tweeters could ask a family member, friend or even another tweeter how to upload a picture of themselves. If they don't have the time or desire to do this while on Twitter, it is hard to take them seriously... The only other persons who have no pics are scammers and spammers, and we don't want to add them to our network -- we of course don't want to follow them. So I generally don't follow those w/o avatars...

When I do a "cleanse" or review of who's following me, the first thing I do is unfollow anyone with the default avatar.

My thinking is that:

1 - They started Twitter, tweeted about a dump they took and then abandoned the account.
2 - I can't expect to learn much from someone who can't figure out how to upload a pic into Twitter.
