Don’t tweet just to post something – Day 7 Twitter Tips and Hints

C6D05EDF-46E8-49B9-B700-CBC17FB03B51.jpgAdding to the conversation on twitter should be your goal if you are commenting on a particular twitter thread that is going on. Tweeting for the sake of tweeting is a lot like leaving one of those stupid comments some leave on our blogs. You know the ones I am talking about.

“Nice blog, I will be back.”

I have seen some of the same type of tweets on twitter and I know you have too. One of the key benefits of twitter is the fact you can have a conversation with so many people and actually get a lot said in 140 characters. Don’t waste the opportunity to be part of the conversation. Add something to it and you will get noticed, followed and you just might start up a new relationship because of it.

  • Agreed, except for one thing. I don't believe you should always be "adding something" to the conversation to "get noticed." Why always add to it? Sometimes you have to start it! Perhaps you DO have something of interest to say that day.

Further, I also hate the "Nice blogs, I will be back comments." But I haven't seen too many equivalents of that on Twitter. Maybe just one or two people on Twitter have I seen tweet just to hear themselves tweet, and add nothing of value to the conversation. I've sincerely valued almost everything I've heard on Twitter.

I hear your statement about how there are some tweets that are not valued on twitter and I'm perplexed. Who is to say which tweets are of value, really? What may not be of value to one person, may be of value to another! Therefore, I think we not be so quick to judge -- quickly deciding certain tweets have no value.

I believe that bc each human being has intrinsic value, so does each tweet, if the tweeter is genuinely and sincerely attempting to tweet something of value. I am also reminded of the unfollow button. Each tweeter should sincerely be himself, tweet what he feels is of value, and let others unfollow if they so choose. Of course his goal at all times is to add valuable content to the community -- what he determines is valuable content. And anyone who so chooses to unfollow him, if they don't like the comment, may, just as he can unfollow them.

At the same time, if he is finding that he is losing most of his followers, he must find out what is wrong with his tweeting and content of his tweeting, asking for help, and change it immediately so that he may be able to have followers.
