Give Your Readers a Way to Contact You

Toolbelt.jpgOne of the biggest mistakes I see businesses and professional services firms do is not giving their readers a simple way to contact them. As we quickly continue our series 28 Days to Build a Successful Blog, I want to touch on another one of the very basic no brainers all of us must do.

How many times have you gone to a blog, enjoyed reading the content or had a question and could not find a way to contact the blogger? I have seen this way to many times. One of the ways we give our readers to reach us and one of the ways we put on all of our client’s blogs is a contact form. For Blog For Profit, we put the form on the page called Contact which you can get to from the navigation tabs at the top. And we took the Contact page one step further. I even include my mailing address and a link to all of those social media tools I also use.

In addition to the Contact page, I also put my email address at the bottom of my About page. What I have found from using both these methods is that I get contacted from both of them. Your readers may want to contact you. They may want more information about your product or service or they may want to refer someone to you. If you are not providing them a simple method of reaching you, they are not going to. And you are going to miss out on opportunities to sell your product and/or service.

Your Homework for Today

Take a look at your blog and make sure you are providing a way for your readers to contact you. If you had your blog professionally designed and launched and you don’t have a contact form, get one. If you did it yourself, get a contact form up. Using the Page function in WordPress you can easily add a contact form to your blog.
