For today’s task in the 28 Days to Build a Successful Blog series you are to connect with another blogger you don’t know.

Don’t ask for anything and don’t expect anything. You have been searching out blogs in your niche over the last few days. Look at your list of blogs you have found and see which one really sticks out and grabs you. Drop one of these bloggers an email or an IM and introduce yourself. I don’t want you to ask for anything. The point is to just touch base and maybe you will build a relationship with this blogger.

I have been blogging for four years and I still use this technique to develop new relationships with my fellow bloggers. In fact, there is hardly a week which goes by that I don’t do this. I have found it is when I offer to help or give them something and not expect anything in return that things happen.

Offer something. You have more to offer this other blogger than you know. Offer to do a guest post for them. Thank them for a great post you just read on their blog. Or suggest something to them that might answer a question they raised in one of their own post.

One word of caution, don’t be disappointed if they don’t respond. A lot of bloggers are extremely busy and they get a lot of emails on a daily basis. But don’t let this stop you from reaching out.
